Open Access publishing options
The following publishers offer free open access publishing opportunities for researchers of the Wigner RCP, made possible by national consortia subscriptions(link is external) (EISZ OA Agreements). Our library assists researchers to comply with open access. Please read the information at the links and contact us by e-mail(link sends e-mail), phone or in person with any further questions.

How to publish OA carefully?
Orientate yourself about open access and open science(link is external) (in Hungarian) in general and about OA publishing. The movement was mainly triggered by journal crisis, but now many scientific organisations are committed to open science. Unfortunately, it has exposed problems that are holding back the movement's expansion and the commercial policies of scientific publishers are also slowing it down considerably. It has been adversely affected by the emergence of predatory-like journals, which often try to entice researchers to publish with unsolicited offers, favourable rates and misleading metrics. Databases are now available to measure the scientific performance of journals. Always check the credibility of journals, publishers' policies and archiving rules. Not only for open access articles, but also for any publishing contract, it is recommended to carefully study the obligations and constraints imposed by the publishers before signing the contract, especially the passages on publication may contain strict conditions and prohibitions that may be worth challenging before signing.
Domestic and foreign research funds generally require open access publication. Similarly, the Hungarian OTKA/NKFIH also requires research groups that have received funding to publish their research results in an open access format(link is external) (in Hungarian).

How can I check the credibility of Open Access resources?
Collections of scientific OA journals and databases:
- DOAJ - Directory of Open Access Journals(link is external) - Directory of OA journals by Lund University of Sweden. Constantly updated,
- Sherpa/JULIET(link is external) - Information on the open access policy of research funds.
- Sherpa/RoMEO(link is external) - Archiving policies of publishers. These data are for information and guidance only. Publication contracts may provide different terms and conditions, so the specific content of the contract will always be decisive.
- ROARMAP(link is external) - Open access policies of institutions by countries.
Copyright information
Copyright protection(link is external) (in Hungarian) is the basis of open access regulation. The contract with the publisher defines the rights of authors and regulates the use of open access documents, e.g. self-archiving in institutional repositories or on the author's website.
