ELTE TTK Fizikai Intézet STATISZTIKUS FIZIKAI SZEMINÁRIUM ------------------------------------------------------------ ! Szokásostól eltérő helyszín: É 0.89 (Jedlik Ányos terem) ! ------------------------------------------------------------ 2013. január 16. szerda, 11:30 Gerhard Wotawa Central Institute for Meteorology and Geodynamics (ZAMG), Austria "FLEXPART development and application at the Austrian Meteorological Service (ZAMG)" he FLEXPART model is used at ZAMG in various operational applications as well as research projects. The operational applications include Nuclear Emergency Response modelling, volcanic ash modelling, and the verification of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT). For CTBT verification, FLEXPART is applied not only in forward mode to predict transport from known events, but also in backward mode to analyse and interpret relevant radionuclide detections at CTBTO monitoring stations. As further application, the FLEXPART model is used to interpret environmental measurements of trace gases at background monitoring stations in Europe. On the research side, ZAMG works on the analysis of the FLEXPART model performance during the Fukushima nuclear accident, and in particular on the improvement of the deposition parameterization of the model. Furthermore, a web portal flexpart.eu is currently under development, which will provide the FLEXPART software to the scientific community together with better documentation, improved pre- and post-processing routines and a better version control system. 1117.
