How to reach Tokaj?
The Workshop will be held in the Degenfeld Conference Center
(City Center, Tokaj) on 16-19 March (Sunday-Wednesday) 2008.
Tokaj is a small city at the north part of Hungary, which can be
reached easily from Budapest (238 km).
Step 1: Travel to Budapest
Arrival to Budapest by airplane
If you intend to come to Hungary by airplane, then your flight will arrive
at the Ferihegy Airport Budapest. Since no airport can be found at Tokaj,
then you need to use train or car to reach the workshop venue.
We recommend to take
an Airport Minibus to the Budapest Keleti railway station and
continue your trip by train.
The Airport Minibus service costs about 3000 HUF (12 EUR)
and can be ordered either in the baggage reclaim area or
outside in the waiting hall. As an alternative you can also get a taxi
at the exit of the airport in order to get to the railway station.
Fix price taxi is running for 5000 HUF (20 EUR) between Ferihegy and
Keleti railway station.
Arrival to Budapest by train
The three major railway stations, the Keleti (east), Nyugati (west)
and Déli (south) are well connected by public transport
(
Budapest Public Transport).
On Intercity trains it is also possible to order a taxi on board.
Arriving to Nyugati or Deli railway stations, please use Subway to
reach Keleti railway station.
Step 2a: Travel to Tokaj from Budapest by train
There is a reasonable train transport between Budapest and Tokaj,
it takes 2 hours and 35 minutes (238 km).
Please note, that direct connections
are available only by Intercity Express trains (IC), which costs 4550 HUF
on 1. class and 3750 HUF on 2. class, on one way.
We suggest you to use these trains.
Here you will find the train
time-table, that lists the direct services between Budapest and Tokaj.
Please also note, that slight modifications in the timetable might occur,
thus we kindly ask you to check this site again one or two days before
coming to the meeting.

If you need further advice on train or accomodation in Budapest
for one-two days, please contact the organizers.
Please note, 15 March is National Holiday in Hungary, and 23-24 March
are Eastern. Thus we suggest to make hotel reservations in Budapest
(before or after the workshop) as soon as possible. Local organizers
will help you.
Step 2b: Travel to Tokaj from Budapest by car
You can rent a car at the Budapest Airport and come to Tokaj (230-250 km).
The easiest way is to go to the Budapest direction from the Airport
and to find the "Grand Circle around Budapest" with the Hungarian name
"Könyves Kálmán Körút".
Turn east-north on it and find the M3 Highway
to Miskolc-Nyiregyháza. The Highway will split at Polgar (150 km).
Either you can go to Miskolc on M30 Highway, than go to Tokaj on the Road 37,
or go further on M3 to Nyiregyháza, but turn north at the
exit "Hajdúnánás" and proceed to Tokaj.
A new road map is very useful, because the highway extension from Polgar
to Nyiregyháza has been opened recently.
Another solution at the Airport is to go away direction from Budapest on the road No. 4,
which is near Budapest Airport. Find a connection to Gödöllö,
where you can enter to the highway M3 and proceed to the
Miskolc-Nyiregyháza direction.
