NIKHEF is a collaboration between four Dutch universities and the Foundation for Fundamental Research on Matter (FOM) and is situated at the Kruislaan 409, Amsterdam (Watergraafsmeer). The institute participates in scientific experiments in the field of subatomic physics at the international accelerator laboratories CERN (Geneva), DESY (Hamburg) and FNAL (Chicago). Additionally NIKHEF participates in the ANTARES project (a neutrino telescope in the Mediterranean) and in the Virtual Laboratory Amsterdam (VLAM). VLAM project NIKHEF participates in the VLAM project, a collaboration between a large number of dutch research institutes and industry with the aim to provide access to industry to scientific equipment and expertise by using the latest internet techniques (grid). NIKHEF contributes to VLAM by means of the integration of a new State-of-the-Art Nuclear Microprobe within the Material Analysis of Complex Surfaces (MACS) portal. With the Microprobe sub-micron diameter ion (protons and Helium nuclei) beam spots can be obtained. After full development of the Microprobe it will be a valuable highly sensitive tool within the field of nanotechnology. The Microprobe will be commissioned near the end of 2002. For the expansion of the Ion Beam Facility team we are searching for a PHYSICIST Task You will work at the Ion Beam Facility of the "Vrije Universiteit" Amsterdam.
